Ferro-Chrome with a chromium level under 56% is referred to as 'charge chrome,' derived from ores with lower chrome content. Conversely, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from superior-grade ores, is preferred for specialized applications like engineering steels, where a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities such as sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium are critical.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steel production, fine-tuning chrome levels without introducing unwanted variations in carbon or trace elements. Additionally, it offers a cost-effective alternative to metallic chrome, ideal for superalloys and other specialized melting applications.
