Superior Femn65si17 Silicon Manganese Alloy for Enhanced Steelmaking Process
Silicon manganese alloy, a powerful blend of manganese, silicon, iron, and trace elements such as carbon, stands out as a pivotal iron alloy with broad applications and significant production volume. Its consumption ranks second among electric furnace ferroalloy products. Notably, manganese and silicon in this alloy exhibit a strong affinity with oxygen, aiding in the steelmaking process. The deoxidation by-products, MnSiO3 and Mn2SiO4, have melting points of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC, respectively, offering advantages like low melting points, large particles, ease of flotation, and exceptional deoxidation efficiency. When deoxidized separately, manganese and silicon have burning loss rates of 46% and 37%, while manganese silicon alloy achieves a notably reduced rate of 29%. This alloy is manufactured by reducing manganese ore (or manganese-rich slag), manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide in silica using carbon in a submerged arc furnace.
