Customized Silver Gray Silicon Barium Calcium Alloy for the Steelmaking Industry
The calcium silicon alloy, a meticulously crafted compound made from silicon, calcium, and iron, serves as the ideal deoxidizer and desulfurization agent. Presently, it can substitute aluminum in final deoxidation stages, making it indispensable in producing high-quality steel, special steel, and unique alloys. It is particularly utilized in manufacturing rail and low carbon steel, stainless steel, and a variety of special alloys including nickel and titanium-based alloys.
Calcium Silicon Alloys act as exceptional deoxidizers and desulfurizers in high-grade steel manufacturing. Both calcium and silicon demonstrate a strong chemical affinity for oxygen. Calcium, in particular, exhibits a powerful affinity not only for oxygen but also for sulfur and nitrogen, with the steel industry consuming around 90% of the global CaSi production.
Additionally, the alloy is instrumental in modifying non-metallic inclusions. It is used to control the shape, size, and distribution of oxide and sulfide inclusions, thereby enhancing the fluidity, machinability, ductility, and impact properties of steel products.
