Ranking second among electric furnace ferroalloy products, this alloy exhibits a profound affinity for oxygen due to its manganese and silicon components. In steelmaking, its deoxidation byproducts, Mnsio3 and Mn2sio4, boast melting points of 1270 ºC and 1327 ºC respectively, offering remarkable advantages like a low melting point, substantial particle size, easy flotation, and superior deoxidation efficiency. Compared to manganese or silicon used alone, which have combustion loss rates of 46% and 37%, respectively, the silicon manganese alloy demonstrates a reduced rate of just 29%. This sophisticated alloy is crafted by simultaneously reducing manganese ore, manganese-rich slag, and manganese oxide alongside silicon dioxide in a submerged arc furnace.
