Silicon Metal stands as an indispensable industrial cornerstone, integral to steel-making, cast iron, and aluminum industries, including aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts production. Derived from quartz and coke, Silicon Metal boasts a silicon content of approximately 98%, with trace impurities of iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Formed in an electric heating furnace, Silicon Metal begins its journey from quartz and coke. Quartz undergoes a redox reaction, transforming into molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, it crystallizes into solid lumps.
These large primal lumps are subsequently broken down into smaller, standard-sized lumps, typically ranging from 10-100mm.
Featuring a captivating silver-grey or dark grey hue with a metallic luster, Silicon Metal is celebrated for its high melting point, excellent heat resistance, superior oxidation resistance, and high resistivity.
