This remarkable alloy is manufactured using coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) within the high-temperature embrace of an electric furnace. Its unique ability to quickly synthesize with oxygen to form silicon dioxide makes Ferrosilicon an essential deoxidizer in steelmaking. As it generates a large amount of heat, it aids in elevating the temperature of molten steel during the deoxidizing process. Beyond deoxidization, Ferrosilicon serves as a valuable alloying element, prominently utilized in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. Its reducing properties also make it indispensable in the production of ferroalloys and various chemical processes.
