Silicon Metal, a cornerstone of modern industries, plays a crucial role in a multitude of applications including steel-making, cast iron, aluminum manufacturing for aerospace, automotive production, and the burgeoning field of silicon optoelectronic devices. Often referred to as the "salt" of contemporary industry, this essential component is crafted using quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. With a robust silicon content of approximately 98%, it boasts a composition that includes minor impurities such as iron, aluminum, and calcium.
The journey of Silicon Metal lumps begins in the electric heating furnace where quartz and coke undergo a redox reaction, transforming into molten silicon. Upon cooling, this molten substance solidifies into the initial, sizable silicon metal lumps. These are then expertly processed
into more conveniently sized pieces, commonly referred to as standard size Silicon Metal Lumps, ranging from 10-100mm.
This remarkable material, characterized by its silver-gray or dark gray hue and metallic luster, is celebrated for its high melting point, exceptional heat resistance, high resistivity, and outstanding oxidation resistance.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in the refractory material and power metallurgy industry to significantly enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance. Its incorporation ensures superior performance and longevity of materials.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as the fundamental raw material for the synthesis of high polymers in organic silicon formation, playing a crucial role in developing advanced chemical products.
3) Industrial silicon powder is transformed into monocrystalline silicon, an indispensable component in the high-tech sector, where it acts as a vital raw material for creating integrated circuits and electronic components, driving technological innovation.
4) Within the metallurgy and foundry industry, industrial silicon powder is prized as an iron base alloy additive and a crucial component in silicon steel alloy formulations, thereby enhancing the hardenability and overall quality of steel products.
5) Silicon metal is integral to the production of materials that withstand extreme temperatures, making it invaluable in manufacturing high-temperature resistant products.
