Steel manufacturing, particularly stainless steel production with 10-20% chromium content, is the largest consumer of Ferro Chrome.

Ferro-Chrome with less than 56% chrome, known as 'charge chrome,' is made from ore with lower chrome content. High Carbon Ferro-Chrome from higher grade ore is used in specialized applications like engineering steels, where a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities (sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium) are crucial.

Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome is vital in steel production for adjusting chrome levels without affecting carbon or trace elements. It is also a cost-effective replacement for metallic chrome in super alloys and specialized melting applications.
