Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial powerhouse, crucial for diverse industries such as steel-making, cast iron production, the creation of aluminum components for aviation, aircraft, and automobile production, as well as the burgeoning silicon optoelectronic device sector. Often referred to as the "salt" of modern industries, this versatile material is crafted from quartz and coke through a sophisticated smelting process in electric heating furnaces. The resultant metal boasts a remarkable silicon content of approximately 98%, with minimal impurities including iron, aluminum, and calcium.
The initial production of Silicon Metal lumps occurs in electric heating furnaces, where quartz undergoes a redox reaction, transforming into molten silicon liquid. This liquid, upon cooling, solidifies into sizeable primal silicon metal lumps. These large lumps are then strategically reduced
to smaller, more manageable fragments we term as standard size. These Silicon Metal Lumps range from 10-100mm, ensuring optimal usability and versatility in application.
Characterized by its silver-gray or dark-gray hue and metallic sheen, this silicon metal exhibits a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, substantial resistivity, and outstanding oxidation resistance, making it an ideal choice for demanding industrial applications.
1) Silicon Metal is extensively utilized in the refractory materials and power metallurgy industries, significantly enhancing the heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance of these materials.
2) In the realm of organic silicon chemistry, industrial silicon powder serves as a fundamental raw material for the synthesis of high-performance organic silicon polymers.
3) Industrial silicon powder is transformed into monocrystalline silicon, a critical raw material in the high-tech sector, indispensable for the creation of integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) Within metallurgy and foundry applications, industrial silicon powder acts as an iron base alloy additive and a key ingredient in silicon steel alloys, enhancing the hardenability and performance of steel.
5) Silicon metal is crucial in the manufacturing of materials that withstand extreme temperatures, ensuring reliability even under the most demanding conditions.
