Ferro-Chrome with less than 56% chrome content, known as 'charge chrome', is derived from lower-grade chrome ores. High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, produced from higher-grade ores, is ideal for engineering steels, featuring a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steel production, correcting chrome percentages without affecting carbon or trace element levels. It offers a cost-effective alternative to metallic chrome for super alloys and specialized melting applications.
