Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial marvel, pivotal in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum production (aviation, aircraft, and automobile parts), silicon optoelectronic devices, and numerous other industries. Revered as the 'salt' of modern industries, Silicon Metal is synthesized from quartz and coke in an electric furnace. Boasting a primary silicon content of approximately 98%, the remaining impurities include iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are crafted in electric heating furnaces using quartz and coke. The redox reaction transforms quartz into molten silicon, which solidifies upon cooling. Initially, the Silicon Metal lump is substantial in size.
These large Silicon Metal lumps are then processed into smaller, standard-sized chunks ranging from 10-100mm.
Displaying a silver-gray or dark gray hue with a metallic sheen, Silicon Metal is renowned for its high melting point, excellent heat resistance, elevated resistivity, and exceptional oxidation resistance.
