Tailored Ferrochromium Alloys: Customized FeCr Low Carbon Ferro Chrome
The steelmaking industry stands as the predominant consumer of Ferro Chrome, with stainless steel production being the primary user. Stainless steel typically requires a chromium content ranging from 10 to 20%, making Ferro Chrome indispensable in this process.
Ferro-Chrome with chrome content below 56%, termed 'charge chrome,' is derived from ores with lower chrome content. High Carbon Ferro-Chrome, sourced from superior grade ore, is preferred for specialized applications like engineering steels. This variety boasts a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimal impurities such as sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.
Low-Carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a crucial role in steel manufacturing by fine-tuning chrome percentages without introducing unwanted variations in carbon or other trace elements. Additionally, it serves as a cost-effective substitute for metallic chrome in super alloys and other specialized melting applications.
