Minerals Metallurgy Ferrochromium Alloy Fecr Ferrochrome High Carbon Ferro Chrome
Steel production stands as the primary consumer of Ferro Chrome, with stainless steel manufacturing being particularly significant. This process demands a chromium content ranging between 10% and 20%, making Ferro Chrome indispensable in enhancing the material's durability and resistance.
Ferro-Chrome, when it contains less than 56% chrome, is often referred to as 'charge chrome'. This variety is derived from ore with a lower chrome content, whereas High Carbon Ferro-Chrome is crafted from superior grade ore. The latter is preferred for specialized applications, such as engineering steels, where high chromium to iron ratios are crucial, along with minimal levels of impurities like sulfur, phosphorus, and titanium.
Low-carbon Ferro-Chrome plays a pivotal role in steel production, facilitating precise adjustments to chromium levels without affecting the carbon or trace element composition. It serves as a cost-effective alternative to metallic chrome, especially in super alloys and other specialized melting applications.
