Low and medium carbon ferromanganese play a pivotal role in the production of special steel. As one of the essential raw materials in the steelmaking industry, it is indispensable. Additionally, it is crucial in the manufacturing of welding electrodes. On the other hand, high carbon ferromanganese serves as an effective deoxidizing agent and is used as an additive to enhance alloy elements during steel production.

Ferromanganese is classified based on its smelting method into two types: electric furnace ferromanganese and blast furnace ferromanganese.
Based on carbon content, ferromanganese is categorized into three distinct classes:

Low-carbon category: Featuring a carbon content not exceeding 0.7%;
Medium-carbon category: Defined by a carbon content ranging between 0.7% and 2.0%;
High-carbon category: Characterized by a carbon content spanning from 2.0% to 8.0%.
