This alloy serves as an exceptional deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steelmaking, while also excelling in dephosphorization with compounds like BaP2 and BaP3. In the realm of casting, it acts as a superior inoculant and modifier, paving the way for enhanced results.

Barium's prowess lies in its ability to significantly lower the vapor pressure of calcium during the steelmaking temperature range, thereby boosting the calcium's solubility in molten steel. Compared to the traditional silicon calcium alloy, when employing silicon calcium barium alloy as a calcium source, even with half the calcium addition, the calcium content in molten steel doubles. This remarkable stability and protection of calcium against oxidation highlight barium's role in optimizing calcium treatment within molten steel.
