Silicon Metal is an indispensable industrial product with versatile applications in steel-making, cast iron, aluminum production (including aerospace, aircraft, and automotive parts), and silicon optoelectronic devices, among others. Often referred to as the 'salt' of modern industries, this essential material is crafted from quartz and coke through an electric heating furnace smelting process. It boasts a silicon content of approximately 98%, with the remaining impurities including iron, aluminum, and calcium.
Silicon Metal lumps are produced by utilizing quartz and coke in an electric heating furnace. During the process, quartz undergoes a redox reaction, transforming into molten silicon liquid. Upon cooling, this liquid solidifies into large primal silicon metal lumps.
These large primal lumps are subsequently broken down into smaller pieces, known as standard-sized Silicon Metal Lumps, ranging from 10-100mm.
Silicon Metal features a silver-gray or dark gray appearance with a metallic luster. It possesses a high melting point, excellent heat resistance, significant resistivity, and exceptional oxidation resistance.
1) Widely used in refractory materials and powder metallurgy industries to enhance heat resistance, wear resistance, and oxidation resistance.
2) Serves as a fundamental raw material in the organic silicon chemical industry, essential for the formation of high polymers in organic silicon products.
3) Industrial silicon powder is sublimated into monocrystalline silicon, a critical material extensively utilized in high-tech industries, especially for integrated circuits and electronic components.
4) In metallurgy and foundry sectors, industrial silicon powder is valued as an iron base alloy additive and a pharmaceutical component for silicon steel, thereby enhancing steel hardenability.
5) Essential for the production of high-temperature materials.
